2024 Speedo Canadian Open Swimming Highlights

The Barrie Trojan Swim Club was one of 89 clubs participating at the inaugural Canadian Swimming Open on April 10 -13. Ten athletes proudly represented our Club and shared the pool with some very high profile names: Avery Knight, Julia Denes, Sydney Colquhoun, Taira Vroom, Laila Oravsky, William Debroux, Jordi Vilchez, Baris Kartoglu, Adriana Martone and Lucian Vilchez. Our team contributed to an 3rd place overall finish. Congratulations to all of these swimmers who have worked so hard to achieve the standards required for this meet!

Jordi Vilchez and Laila Oravsky set new Club records in their 100M Fly (55.15) and 400 IM (4:54.54) swims respectively. Will Debroux had a great meet with impressive times and finishes in the freestyle distance events (400M, 800M, 1500M). There were many other impressive highlights.

Many of these swimmers will be on the largest Canadian swimming stage, Olympic Trials, May 13 -19. Please take the  opportunity to wish them well and support them as they compete at Trials! Go Trojans!
