RHAC Summer League Invitational 2025 Highlights

The Richmond Hill Aquatic Club hosted their Summer League Invitational July 18-20 at the Markham Pan Am Centre.  BTSC athletes competed against swimmers from 11 other clubs. Here are some highlights from the weekend of racing.

Session #1

The first session consisted of all the age groups swimming 200M individual medley and 800M freestyle.

Leah Martin raced to a bronze medal in the 11-12 year old 800M freestyle, bettering her previous personal best time by 12 seconds.

Cassidy Meeuwse, Clare Pretty, Dorothy Dong and Dylan George had top 10 finishes. Cassidy placed 6th in the 800M freestyle while also finishing 9 seconds ahead of her seed time. Clare and Dylan finished 7th and 10th in their 800M races. Dorothy was 10th in her 200M IM swim.

Here are some other notable swims in the session:

James Mancini took 54 seconds off of his 800M free time. Namiid Khan and Lily Oliver bettered their 800M free times by 18 and 9 seconds respectively. Matt Creasor swam to a 6 second personal best in the 200M IM. Erin Round, Lily Oliver and Raevyn Maule dropped 4, 3 and  3 seconds from their 200M IM times.

Session #2

This session saw the 12 year old and under swimmers dive into the pool.

Emma Mackie started the session off with a gold medal swim in the 200M freestyle. She also set a 3 second faster personal standard. Emma had a 2 second best time to claim the silver medal in her 50M backstroke race and a best time earned the 50M butterfly bronze medal.

Oscar Round is the gold medallist in the 50M backstroke using a 3.5 second best time to climb a couple of seed positions to touch the wall first. Oscar had a 5 seconds faster time to earn the 200M freestyle silver medal.

Here are the BTSC top 10 finishes in the session.

Leah Martin placed 5th in 200M free and 6th in 100M back.
Griffin Williams was 5th in the 400M IM swimming to a new personal best time 36 seconds faster than before he raced. 
Oscar Round swam a 5 second best time and placed 7th in the 100M butterfly.
Kat McFarland used a 3 second best time to place 8th in the 50M backstroke.

Here is a summary of other noteworthy BTSC swims.

Kat McFarland swam a 4 second best time in the 100M backstroke. 
Griffin Williams finished his 100M butterfly race 24 seconds quicker than his seed time and took 9 seconds off of his 200M breaststroke time.

Session #3

The older age groups were back in the pool where Dorothy Dong leveraged a 7 second best time to earn the 400M IM bronze medal.

Andie Rose placed 5th in the 400M IM. Lily Oliver finished 9th in her 400M IM, improving her time by 6 seconds.  Namiid Khan also had an excellent 400M IM swim, improving his time by 15 seconds and finishing 9th. In the 100M butterfly, Noemi Blake placed 5th and Cassidy Meeuwse was 10th. In the 100M backstroke, Matt Creasor finished 5th and Namiid Khan 10th with new personal best times. Namiid also had a best time in the 50M back where he finished 9th. Dorothy Dong, Noemi Blake, Andie Rose and Raevyn Maule all had top 10 results in 200M breaststroke, placing 5th, 6th, 8th and 9th. 

Madelynn Doyle had an excellent 200M freestyle swim, improving her personal best time by 12 seconds. In the same event, Norah Moschenross improved her best time by 15 seconds. Erin Round also had a great 200m free swim, bettering her seed time by 7 seconds. Madelynn had a 9 second best time 100m backstroke swim and took 5 seconds off her 50M fly time.

Session #4

Emma Mackie continued to collect medals with a golden version earned by winning the 50M breaststroke and  bronze medals in the 100M freestyle and 100M breastroke.

Oscar Round had an amazing 200M backstroke race, winning the gold medal and setting a new personal best time 41 seconds faster than his entry time.  He was on the podium again for the 200M butterfly, winning the silver medal and then again with a 50M freestyle silver medal. 

Leah Martin’s 200m butterfly swim resulted in a bronze medal and a 13 second best time.

William Rupay used a 2 second best time to win the 100M freestyle bronze medal.

Leah Martin raced to a 4 second new best time for 200M backstroke resulting in a 4th place finish. Kat McFarland came 5th overall in the 50M breastroke after touching the wall 13 seconds faster than her previous best time. William Rupay set a new personal best time, breaking the 30 second barrier in his 50M freestyle and placing 5th. A 4 second best time by Kat in the 50M freestyle resulted in a 7th place finish.

Session #5

Matt Creasor placed 5th in 200M backstroke, taking 3 seconds off his seed time. Dorothy Dong and Clare Pretty finished 6th and 9th in their 200M backstroke, and Lily Oliver placed 10th in her 200M backstroke, establishing a 7 second new best time.

In 50M breaststroke racing, Anabel Hache finished 8th with a best time while Andie Rose and Thomas Gangi came in 8th and 9th in their races.

Dorothy Dong clocked a 5 second best time to finish 4th in the 200M butterfly.. Cassidy Meeuwse and Clare Pretty placed 6th and 8th in the race.

Dorothy was 9th fastest in the 50M freestyle.

Raevyn Maule dropped 14 seconds off her 100M IM time and Norah Moschenross bettered her entry time by 9 seconds in the same event. 

In the 50M breaststroke, Lily Oliver posted a 5 second best time.

Namiid Khan and Matt Creasor had notable 100M breaststroke swims, bettering their seed time by 5 and 3 seconds respectively.
