Top Cup 2025 Meet Highlights

The Etobicoke Olympium was the venue for Top Cup 2025 May 9-11. This meet is unique in that it is for 10 year old and under swimmers only. There were 21 Clubs competing, including clubs from Quebec. BTSC had 17 athletes swimming over the weekend.

On Friday evening, Emma Mackie had an excellent 200m IM swim, improving her best time by 5 seconds. She used an 8 second best time in the 400M freestyle to finish 7th overall in the 10 year old race. Esther Kim, Kayla Yao and Andia Hakimian also had 23 second, 47 second and 12 second personal bests in the race. Dylan Jackson swam 13 seconds faster than her seed time to finish 10th in the 9 year old 400M freestyle. Olivia Bowen had a huge 49 second best time in the same race.

There were more best times on Saturday morning starting with 100M freestyle where Emma Mackie, Kenzie Marshall, Esther Kim, Andia Hakimian and Kloe Gervais-Osmond all swam the 100M faster than they had before. In the boys races, Chase Turner, Lucas Klajn and Boyd Miller all clocked best times.

In the 200m backstroke, Kayla Yao had an impressive 20 second best time. Chase Turner finished 7th overall in his 200M backstroke race. 

Emma Mackie touched the wall 6th fastest in 100M breaststroke, posting a new personal best time. Esther Kim and Andia Hakimiam also set new personal standards in their races.

In the 50M backstroke, Chase Turner finished 5th fastest overall.

Dylan Jackson used a best time to crack the top 10 in the 200M backstroke as part of the Saturday afternoon session. Sarah Leahy went 22 seconds faster in her backstroke race. 

In the 100M breastroke, Olivia Bowen and Sarah Leahy both swam to best times. 

Sunday morning started with 200M freestyle racing where Raman Chaikouski swam a 26 second best time. Kenzie Marshall also swam a best time in her race.

Emma Mackie swam to a silver medal result in her 50M breaststroke using a 2 second personal best time. Kloe Gervais-Osmond also had a great swim, improving on her seed time by almost 5 seconds.

In the 100M backstroke, Chase Turner had a best time and finished 5th overall. Sydney Paquet swam to a personal best time in the girls event.

The next event, 200M breaststroke, saw Emma Mackie race to a 4th place finish.

Chase Turner cracked the top 10 in 50M freestyle. His teammate, Lucas Klajn, posted a 3 second best time. 

In the Sunday afternoon session, 200M freestyle kicked off the racing where Dylan Jackson, Sarah Leahy, Olivia Bowen and Callum Round all had personal best time swims.

Ainsley Kiser made it to the finish of her 50M breaststroke in a best time.
