2025 Ontario Masters Provincials Meet Highlights
Our BTSC Masters team was back at the Markham Pan Am Centre from April 25-27 for the Masters Provincials swim meet.
Alex Blechta, Maks Chaikouski, Kasey O’Grady and Joanna Palermo proudly donned their green Trojan caps for the weekend. They competed against swimmers from 48 other clubs. Athletes at this meet ranged in age from 18 to 91 years.
Here are some swimming highlights from the weekend.
Maks Chaikouski was the silver medallist for his age group in the 100M breaststroke. He had two other top 10 finishes, placing 5th and 7th in the 50M breaststroke and 100M freestyle respectively.
Joanna Palermo cracked the top 10 by finishing 5th in the 50M and 200M breaststroke, 8th in the 100M breaststroke and 10th overall in the 50M butterfly. Her 2.01 sec. time improvement in the 50M breaststroke allowed her to jump 3 seed placements. She also had significant best times 100M IM (17.93 sec.), 100M breaststroke (13.44 sec), 50M butterfly (8.03 sec.) and 200M breaststroke (7.66 sec.).
Kasey O’Grady used a best time to touch the wall in 8th place in the 100M breaststroke. She also cracked the top 10 in 100M IM with a 7.00 sec. improvement. Her 10th place finish represented a 4 seed jump in placement. She had a 11.74 sec. best time in 100M freestyle and also went faster than her seed time in 50M freestyle.
Alex Blechta touched the wall in 5th place for his 50M and 100M breaststroke races. He had best times of 0.93 and 7.34 sec. respectively. Alex finished 6th overall in the 100M breaststroke and 9th in the 100M freestyle.
