Stephen Forsey Masters 2025 Meet Highlights
Our BTSC Masters team travelled to the Markham Pan Am Centre on March 23 to compete in the Stephen Forsey Masters swim meet hosted by the Thornhill Masters Aquatic Club.
BTSC was represented by 12 swimmers racing in the morning and afternoon sessions. The Masters team participating in competitions continues to grow and it is fantastic to see.

It was a great day of racing with each of the swimmers participating in multiple events making for a busy day of swimming. The Trojans finished 8th overall in a field of 30 Masters teams! Here is a summary of the racing results.
50M Breastroke
Joanna Palermo swam to a 3rd place result and Sarah Darby finished 5th. Both improved on their seed times. In Sarah’s case it was an almost 11.5 second time drop. Maks Chaikouski took 3rd spot and Alex Beland, Alex Blechta and Wayne Malcolm placed 4th, 5th and 7th respectively in their age groups.
100M Backstroke
Hannah Lord touched the wall in 1st place and Emma Lambert came in 3rd in the same race. Sarah Hornby used an over 2 second faster than seed time swim to claim 1st place for her age category. Manuela Lord placed 5th in her race, swimming over 11 seconds faster than her seed time. Carlos Vilchez and Jason Devroom were 2nd and 3rd place finishers in their events.
200M Individual Medley
Joanna Palermo claimed 1st place for her age group swimming 51 seconds quicker than her seeding time.
100M Freestyle
Sarah Darby had another huge time improvement of over 24 seconds to place 7th while Manuela Lord improved by over 6 seconds to finish in 8th. Maks Chaikouski and Alex Blechta came in 3rd spot for their age groups while Carlos Vilchez, Alex Beland and Wayne Malcolm placed 5th, 7th and 8th in their races.
50M Backstroke
Sarah Hornby achieved a 1st place finish, Hannah Lord swam 2nd fastest, Sarah Darby placed 3rd, Manuela Lord came in 4th and Emma Lambert finished 6th in their races. In the men’s event, Jason Devroom took 3rd place.
200M Breaststroke
Joanna Palermo was 2nd fastest, touching the wall over 8 seconds earlier than her seed time. Alex Blechta was the 3rd place finisher in his race.
50M Freestyle
Emma Lambert, Joanna Palermo, Sarah Darby and Manuela Lord placed 6th, 6th, 7th and 9th in their respective races. In the men’s races, Maks Chaikouski placed 3rd, Alex Blechta and Alex Beland 4th, and Wayne Malcolm 7th in their age groups.
100M Butterfly
A 1st place result was achieved by Sarah Hornby while Hannah Lord touched in 3rd place. Carlos Vilchez finished 5th in his race.
100M Breastroke
Hannah Lord had another 1st place finish, taking advantage of a 4 second improvement from her seed time. Alex Blechta, Alex Beland and Carlos Vilchez all swam to 3rd place finishes in their respective age groups.
200M Freestyle
Maks Chaikowski was the 3rd place finisher in his race.
100M Individual Medley
In the last events of the competition, Hannah Lord used a 9 second time improvement to claim 1st place while Emma Lambert and Joanna Palermo placed 6th and Manuela Lord 8th in their races. Carlos Vilchez came in 3rd and Maks Chaikouski 4th in their swims.
