ROC Masters Swim Meet Highlights

On February 1st, a team of BTSC swimmers competed against 17 other Clubs from all over Ontario at the Region of Clarington Masters Invitational swim meet. It is great to see our Masters team competing at their first event of the year. Manuela and Hannah Lord, Kasey O’Grady, Joanna Palermo, Jason Devroom and Maks Chaikouski represented BTSC and had a great day of swimming.

Here are some of the highlights from the meet.

Manuela, Hannah, Jason and Maks formed a mixed 200M free relay team that placed first overall. Hannah, Manuela, Kasey and Joanna claimed 2nd place in the 200M women’s free relay.

Hannah Lord touched the wall in first for the 100M backstroke, 50M breaststroke, and the 50M butterfly in her individual events. Her backstroke and butterfly times were faster than her seed times.

Manuela Lord was 2nd and 3rd fastest in her 50m Backstroke and 100M freestyle races. She placed 5th in 50M breaststroke and 6th in 50M freestyle. All of her race times were improvements over her times going into the races.

Kasey O’Grady had a full day of swimming, competing in 6 individual events plus 1 relay. She earned 1st, 2nd and 3rd place finishes in 50M butterfly, 100M breaststroke, and 50M backstroke, respectively. She also placed 4th in the 100M freestyle and 50M breaststroke and 7th in the 50M freestyle.  Kasey also bettered all of her seed times in her races.

Joanna Palermo finished top 3 in all of her races coming in 2nd place in 50M backstroke and 50M butterfly while taking 3rd place in 50M freestyle and 50M breaststroke. Her free, breast and fly times were seed time improvements.

Jason Devroom also finished top 3 in all of his races which included racing to the finish in 1st for the 100M freestyle, 2nd for the 50M backstroke and 3rd for the 50M freestyle and 50M butterfly. 

Maks Chaikouski played the role of swimmer and coach claiming 1st place in 50M breaststroke and 2nd place in 50 M freestyle, 50M backstroke and 50M butterfly.

These swimmers represent the epitome of BTSC families with swimmers throughout their families participating at all levels of our Club demonstrating that swimming is truly a sport for life.
