Ken Demchuk International Invitational Highlights

BTSC swimmer Kate Smith and Coach Sam Kuntz participated as part of a Swim Ontario tour team at the Ken Demchuk International Invitational that took place November 29-December 1, 2024 at the Markham Pan Am Centre.

The purpose of the Swim Ontario tour team is to provide a high-level para swimming opportunity as part of the Swim Ontario International Podium Development project. This allows targeted swimmers to learn what it is like to be part of a national-level team as they pursue their goals towards these levels of competitions.

Throughout the meet, Kate had some amazing swims that included multiple finals and the rare opportunity to go head-to-head against some of the best that her sport class has to offer in Canada. Here is a summary of some of Kate’s results over the three days of competition.

  • 2nd place in 200M freestyle
  • 1st place in 100M breaststroke
  • 3rd place in 100M freestyle
  • 3rd place in 200M individual medley
  • 4th place in 100M butterfly

Following the competition, Kate participated in a training development camp where she had the opportunity to work with various coaches and athletes from around the country as well as take part in two classroom sessions.

Congratulations Kate. Great swimming!
