BTSC wins Huronia Region Long Course Championships

A BTSC team of 40 swimmers competed at Brock University from May 31 - June 2, 2024 at the Huronia Regional Long Course Championship. This team raced hard all weekend and were crowned meet champions, earning the 2024 championship banner. All of the 40 swimmers contributed points to our overall team score.

BTSC swimmers made a steady walk to the awards area to receive medals.

Individual medal winners:

  • Maggie Taylor: Gold for 400M IM and silver for 400M free.
  • Sam Takacs: 200M back and 800M free silver medals to go along with a 200M free bronze.
  • Ameliya Suleimanov: 50M and 100M free silver medals and a bronze for 50M back.
  • Rhys Serre: Bronze medal in 200M fly.
  • Kylie Sarabura: 50M breast gold medal complemented by bronze medals in 100M and 200M breast and 200M IM.
  • Molly Robinson: Gold, silver and bronze medals in 1500M free, 400M free and 400M IM respectively.
  • Claire Pretty: 1500M free silver and 800M free bronze.
  • Reilynn Oevering: Bronze medal in 400M IM.
  • Gracelyn Oevering: 200M breast bronze medal.
  • Cassidy Meeuwse: Three silver medals awarded for 400M, 800M, and 1500M free.
  • Maggie McConachie: A medal of every color for 400M free, 200M fly and 100M fly.
  • Raevyn Maule: Gold medals for 400M free and 100M fly, silver in 200M fly and 100M breast bronze.
  • Eva Mankarios: Lots of silver piled up from 50M, 100M and 200M breast as well as 400M IM and bronze medal finishes in 100M fly and 200M IM.
  • Emma Mackie: Gold for 200M fly, silver in 200M breast and bronzes for 100M fly and 100M breast.
  • Alexa Mackie: First to the finish to earn gold medals in 50M, 100M and 200M breast and a 200M IM silver medal.
  • Veronica Macfie: Silver medal winner for 400M free.
  • Emma Guthrie: 1500M freestyle gold medal winner.
  • Jordyn Gardner: Bronze medallist for 800M free.
  • Harper Ferguson: Gold medals in 200M back and 400M free to go along with silver medals in 200M and 800M free.
  • Dorothy Dong: Fastest swimmer in her age for 400M, 800M and 1500M free and 200M IM achieving 4 gold medals. Her 100M and 200m free races resulted in silver medals and 50M bronze.
  • Eva Beuadry: Silver medals for 50M, 100M and 400M free.
  • Liz Battrick: 200M backstroke bronze.
  • Reese Anderson: Gold in 200M breast, silver medals for 50M and 100M breast and 200M IM, and bronze for 400M free and 200M fly.
  • Finn Taylor: 200M breaststroke bronze medallist.
  • Hayden Snell: Gold medal for 1500M free.
  • William Rupay: 400M free gold medallist, silver medals for 50M free, 200M breast and 200M fly, and bronze medals for 100M free, 100M breast and 200M IM.
  • Robert Palermo: 1500M free silver medal.
  • Owen Oatway: Bronze medal in 200M IM.
  • Nikita Manziy: 100M breast silver medal accompanied by bronze medals in 200M back and 200M breast.
  • Namiid Khan: Silver medal finishes for 100M free and 50M back and bronze medals for 50M free, 100M back and 400M free.
  • Edwin Huang: Bronze medal winner for 100M and 200M fly.
  • Cole Harrison: Gold medal winner for 1500M free.
  • Dylan George: 50M free, 100M free, and 100M breast silver medals and bronze medallist for 200M, 400M and 800M free.
  • Nate Douglas: Top step of the podium to receive gold medals for 200M, 4000M, 800M and 1500M free, silver medal for 100M free and a bronze medal for 50M free.
  • Ben Depiero: Gold medal winner for 100m and 200M fly, 100M and 200M back silver medallist and a bronze for 400M free.
  • Matt Creasor: Silver medals for 400M free and 200M back.
  • Connor Chapman: Gold medal; for 400M IM, and bronze medals for 400M free and 200M breast.
  • Anton Chaikouski: Four gold medals and 3 silver medals in 200M back, 100M breast, 200M breast, 400M IM, 200M free, 50M breast and 100M back respectively.

Relays:

  • The boys team of Namiid Khan, Matt Creasor, William Rupay and Edwin Huang were gold medallists in the 4x100M free relay. 
  • The girls relay of Maggie Taylor, Maggie McConachie, Liz Battrick and Gracelyn Oevering accomplished the same feat in their race.
  • Bronze medals were awarded to mixed relay teams of Maggie McConachie, Maggie Taylor, Namiid Khan, and Matt Creasor, and Nate Douglas, Dylan George, Dorothy Dong and Sam Takacs for their 4X100M freestyle races.

In addition to all of the medals, Ben Depiero, Maggie McConachie and Maggie Taylor achieved new Festivals qualifying times. Dylan George, Kylie Sarabura, William Rupay, Raevyn Maule, Emma Mackie and Eva Beaudry added to previously achieved qualifying standards with additional ones at the meet.
